Well, I was backing into the garage, like I done hundreds of times before, but this time I got to close to the side of the garage door frame, and, BAMMM, broke the housing and mirror. I can get the housing off, but I haven't figured out how to get the mirror out so I can disconnect the wiring.

Has anyone done this and what tips can you pass along? Thanks for the help.

FIrst of all, what year car, and in what country is it located? Usually you have to pull the inner door sail off. It will usually be a black triangle at the beginning of the door closest to the windshield, once it's off, it will show some taped up wires and either some bolts, or screws depending, that actually hold the mirror on. Depending on the year, there will be a connector clip right there, and it will disconnect from there, or it will be inside the mirror housing once it's removed from the door.

More info could pinpoint this, and if it's a 2002-2006 I can give you pictures and instructions on how to do it.

Thanks for the note. My CRV is a 2008. The mirror is attached to the pivot point by three screws that release it from the pivot. I just can't figure out how to get the mirror off so I can change the wiring out.

If you want to replace the whole mirror housing, your doing it wrong. The wiring goes thru the door and plugs into the harness under the door liner.

Somewhere on here, another owner has a diy for mirror replacement.

Found it. The link has instructions on the mirror housing repalcement and further down how to take the door liner off. You will have to do this to unplug the mirror coupler.
