Hi Everyone!

I just got my 1999 CRV LX yesterday and I love it! I want to get a keyless entry for it, but I have found differing things on the web. I see that everyone seems to trust H and A accessories, and I saw on their website that all CRVs come from the factory with the transmitter, but when I called a local dealership they said that my year and model didn't come with the transmitter installed. Has anyone whose CRV didn't come with the keyless entry remote gotten a remote from H and A and had success programming it? I just want to make sure that I don't waste my money! I appreciate any help that anyone could give me! Thanks!

Congrats on your new V! I'm new to the cr-v world as well. :) I just ordered a gas cap holder from HandA accessories yesterday and it's already in route to my house. Seems like they have fast shipping!

I'm not sure about the LX transmitter thing, but just remember that the dealer will lie like a dog to make some cash. I'm sure someone will come along and answer your question.

Good luck!

ALL 99 LX's came with the receiver already installed. Pull off the dead pedal and remove the driver's foot left kick panel. There's your receiver.
All you need is the CORRECT (very important) remote. You can trust H and A to get you the correct one. Call them if in doubt.

The reason you see so many on eBay is that unscrupulous people will sell their LX, keep the remotes from the new owner and sell them on eBay to make a couple extra $.

Hi again!

Thanks for the welcome! I did a lot of research and was looking at the CRV I bought for a while before I was able to get it, so I am super excited to finally have it. Also, thanks for the information, but I have another question. Could you tell me what the receiver looks like? My husband and I tried to find it earlier, but we didn't really know what we were looking for (part of the problem may have been that I'm not quite sure what a "dead panel" is!) I appreciate the help!

I appreciate the help!Like I said - you already have the receiver. ALL CR-V's got one. The dead pedal is the flat looking thing left of the brake pedal, where you can rest your foot. It has a tread pattern on it, similar to a real pedal (like the clutch) You would have to remove it and the left driver's side kick panel to get to it. No one removed it - your power locks and other assorted goodies wouldn't work - they all plug into it.

Thanks for the quick reply. I thought that was what the dead panel might be, but my husband didn't believe me. I can't wait to tell him in the morning that I was right! Sounds like its time for me to get on H and A to order the remote. Thanks for all the help!

Listen to this guy, he knows what he's talking about. If by some chance the remote doesn't work you could always try selling it on ebay or craigslist.

Good luck!

Just wanted to update everyone. My remotes came in today (ordered them Thursday, paid for 3 day select and came in today!) and they work great! Out of curiosity, I called a local Honda dealership to see how much they would charge. They wanted $90 for one remote, and I got two through H and A for $80 ($66 for the remotes, $13 for shipping)! I could not be happier!:D

Glad to hear you got the right stuff. Now, if you want to extend the range of that remote.... Pull off the dead pedal and the driver's side kick panel. The receiver is a rectangular piece with a small piece of wire (antenna) coming off of it. It is about 4-6 inches long with a plastic cap over the end. Using a piece of spare wire, extend the antenna wire up along the driver's side A pillar channel. Hide it behind the plastic trim piece to protect it. Long range in minutes!

I recently bought a CR-V LX 2001, even if you tell me that you are 100% sure that every CRV has a factory keyless entry system installed; I tried to looking for the "RECIVER" (i removed the dead pedal and the driver's side kick), but I couldn't see the rectangular reciver with an antena coming off it.

Can anyone, show me a picture of the "RECIVER" to see how it look?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE....

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE....No, I can't show you you a picture. The antenna is just a piece of wire about 4-6" long. Why did you bother to do this after reading the above?

EVERY CR-V CAME WITH THE RECEIVER! JUST BUY THE REMOTE and you WILL have keyless entry after you program the remotes.

I can attest to this. Last year I bought 2 remotes off eBay with programming instructions for my '99 LX and it worked without any problem. When it was totalled I kept the remotes and programmed them for my '00 LX. Worked like a charm.

I just bought a remote for my 99 CRV and it works for all doors but the front passenger door. Any ideas why?

It is probably the actuator for the lock in that door. Does the lock work when you use the power lock button?

So do all the 2nd generation CR-Vs have the reciever for the remote start as well? I just bought a 2002 LX and I love it, just the locking would be a lot simpler if I had a remote. Also, does anyone know where the reciever is on the 2nd generation? I wanna try that trick to increase range, but I don't think the dead pedal is where it's located in the 2nd generation. Maybe I just didn't look hard enough.
