I have two 2001 CR-Vs. One with 57K miles the other with 63K miles. Both were bought used in the past year. No prior maintenance records were available when they were purchased.

I am in the process of going through both vehicles and doing routine service items. I have been reading about replacement of timing belts. Is there anyway to tell how old the timing belt is? Are there markings on the belt that indicate it was the original from the factory or a replacement prior to my purchase?

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks.

It is doubtful that the belts have been replaced - they replacement isn't called for until 7 years OR 105k miles. I wouldn't worry about the belts until you are nearing either the time or mileage amounts.

Thanks for the advice. I'll use the carfax that I have for each CR-V to determine the purchase date and therefore the age.

BTW. One of the Cr-Vs id Red and the other is Blue.
