Man, it's been raining in Houston for two weeks and I haven't been able to wash the V. The engine bay is pretty clean, but I've been wanting to clean it a bit more. I'll try and take a picture of it tomorrow clean or not. That is if it doesn't rain!

Nice pic Alpine, I wish mine was that clean right now. Because then I wouldn't have to clean it later.

Here is the Black Pearl's engine bay. The second picture is the Black Pearl riding on the Black Pearl. Pictures by Black Pearl.
Here's a picture of my engine bay. I cleaned it up a bit. I need to get a cap for my windshield reservoir. The previous owner lost it

Dana, the cap is about $4 from a dealer. Part number 11, here:

.
Thanks 2redv's. I got the cap today from the dealer. My engine bay looks much nicer now!

What does everyone use for cleaning their engine? What are the best and safest methods?

They all look good when they have only been on the road for a week.209

My engine was very clean when I got my V, so all I had to do was hose it down to get a little dirt off. When I had my Civic I used Simple Green and that worked really well.
Try using some Simple Green and then hose it off.

I second that. Simple Green is good safe stuff.

Mine doesn't get insanely dirty, but I just spray the surfaces with Simple Green, let them sit for a few minutes and then spray off with a high-power sprayer. Be conscience of the air intake. You don't want to get a bunch of water in there. After that, I spray it down with Armor All. Someone else may have a better suggestion though. Thanks.

I need to take pics, I just ripped a bunch of stuff out of mine, and added some brackets, and painted my valve cover and exaust manifold heat shield

I need to clean mine but it has been raining for a week here. I am color matching the plastic parts "Yellow" to match my Yellow Top Optima Battery. I'll probably do it this weekend and paint the brake calipers as well while I am at it.

Thanx for the feedback on paintin the engine covers. I was just shooting that out to get some responses. My brake calipers for sure are getting painted. Just to throw some color to the big black wheels. I'd rather see painted calipers, than dirty suspension thru the wheel openings.

very true. I have 16's myself, but on all my cars I paint the suspention gloss black, once it's a week old it's not so glossy, but it looks super clean for about a year. I did it on my v and I also did the whole under rear suspention and behind the whole front bumper.

Well here's my engine bay. No where near as clean as yours 2Red. This is from yesterday at a local car show I attended. They only had one class for SUV's and Trucks and I didn't win unfortunately.

The brother-in-law recently did an awesome detail job to the 04 (he owns a detail shop) but I don't think the plastic covered engine bay of an 04 looks that great anyway. I like the looks of the 99-2001 1st gens the best.

thanks. I think the guys that did the motor swap right before i purchased it messed it up. I removed the charcoal canister from my old car, so i cant remember where the hoses go. I am also not used to this crappy tb set up the crv has.

if anything, can you at least tell me where the hoses from the charcoal canister go, and what is plugged in to the back of the intake manifold (hose wise, besides the brake hose) and if you have a nozzle on your throttle body at the top centre, right in front of the map sensor, ...and if so, what hose goes to that.

I was just about to ask you where exactly is the intake manifold on the V. But since you got it, that's great. Sorry I'm just barely getting to this topic. First week of 2nd sem was already rough  hehe

the intake manifold is the part on the rear upper part of the motor near the firewall that the intake goes into

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! Jk, you can do what you want, but I don't like the sound of that hydrolock. I may do a short ram like Sleeksilver has on his 2nd gen, but that's about it.
p.S. I like your car... here's my engine bay:

Also, your grille still has chrome on it. I have a DIY on how to fix that up on hondasuv.com

Hmmm... you're loss. JK. I was getting sick of that being THE ONLY PIECE OF CHROME on the car. That's why it needed to be "fixed"
