hitch advice

I have a new 09 CR-V that I want to add a hitch and trailer to. The trailer will probably be a 4' X 8' (small) single axle that will be just large enough for my lawn tractor and rental tools (like an aerator).

I dont want to haul anything heavier than those items so Im thinking a lighter class hitch. I already have a 1-1/4" ball/shaft.

Any advice on a hitch that is well built, affordable, easy to install and hidden would be appreciated.

OBTW - I appreciate this forum - Bought the WeatherTech floormats as recommended elsewhere in this forum and they are great!

Yo ucan do a search on thsi site, it's a commonn topic. But the class II hitch with the 2" reciever is mounted much sturdier and can be installed in 15 minutes without drilling. The heavier construction is good for bike racks and other acccessories that only come in 1-1/4".

The Class I hitch (1-1/4" reciever) requires drilling and it's as sturdy.

Alos keep in mind that towing services may use the trialer hitch to pull the car out of a ditch. The stronger class III would be much better for this.

New Draw bars are cheap. You'll likely need a new one anyway since the new trailer and the height of the CR-V may require a different offset anyway. Small utility trailer are often lower than other trailers.

The wiring adapter is a plug & play affair. The hardest part is pulling back the plastic interior panels ot get to the wiring harness.

I went to e-trailer.com for my hitch. I used the Hidden Hitch. I've had issues with the paint quality (flaking off) on previous Curt hitches. My last hitch from them had all the paint flake off in less than 2 years. That's the first tiem that's ever happend to a hithc I've owned and I used ot live in Michigan and Illinois where they used LOTS of salt. They use very little here in Iowa. The Draw-tite and Valley hitches seems good too.
