Our 2005 CRV and Lucas synthetic engine oil stabilizer
I got tired of the cold valve clacking in our 2005 CRV. I replaced 20% of the oil capacity with Luca synthetic oil stabilizer ( notice it is not the Lucas heavy duty oil stabilzer which is thick as STP) The synthetic oil stabilizer is a little thicker then standard engine oil - but not that much. Anyway I decided to try it ( mileage on CRV is 158,000 kil or about 98,000 miles) The engine is now quieter when cold - have to drive a while get a good idea. I have been using the Honda 5-20 full synthetic oil - think it is noisier with this then regular oil. To see how the oil flows, I put a peice of shiny aircraft aluminum at a 45 deg angle and poured three different oils on it in different spots - the Honda 5-20 full synthetic ran off the quickest - the regular 5-30 oil stayed on longer and the Lucas synthetic stayed on the longest. After a day, I ran my finger over each oil - Honda full synthetic had very little left, the regular 5-30 had more oil left , the Lucas had the most left and was a little sticky. Every body says don't use additives but with the current mileage, I had nothing to loose! Will update when I get more mileage on this change.

Have driven a while now with the Lucas oil stabilzer. The engine is quieter when cold and seems ( not sure)to turn over a little faster on cold starts. It will be interesting how it does over the winter.

Sounds like it is doing what it advertises! Most products don't or its hard to tell any change. Is this a product similar to slick -50? Thanks for the info, Hal

As far as I know, it is nothing like slick 50. Slick 50, I think, has teflon in it. Anyway because of the mileage and no warranty, I thought I would try the Lucas. I would never use Slick 50!

I use Mobile 1 10W-30 synthetic in all my cars (03 Avalon, 05 Ranger, 05 CRV) all the time with fantastic results. Change interval is 6 mos or 7500 miles. No problems on any vehicle at any time. Give it a shot, you'll like it.

I have not used the lucas oil stabilizer, I have used lucas oil gas treatment and it does every thing they claim.
