How to pull down the Multiplex Control Unit/Fuse Box (2003 CRV MT)
I need to pull down the MCU/Fuse Box for cleaning/checking after my car was flooded. I had various electrical problems like radiator/evaporator fans not working, A/C compressor not engaging, handbrake light on dash not going away, power window on 2 doors not working, central door locks not working, rear glass latch not releasing, rear door not unlocking, etc.
I would prefer not to pull down the whole dashboard, but it seemed that the MCU box couldn't be swung out after releasing the single bolt (at the lower portion). I believe the upper portion of the MCU box was hooked to the upper frame somehow. I don't want to be dismantling the steering column just for this one. Can someone here share their experience in pulling down this MCU box the easiest way? As the Honda Service Center here have a long queue of cars waiting to be serviced. I'm on queue# 900+ and they are currently servicing on queue# 20. And it is more than a month now from when they started with queue# 1. |

You can get to it with a lot of access by removing the lower dashboard. Pull off the top cover on the steering wheel column, then remove the screw inside the fuse acess panel, and then remove the one inside the hidden change compartment next to your left knee when you sit in the driver's seat. Pull up on the whole lower piece, and out, then disconnect all the switches on the left. You will have a lot of room to work with after that.

Thanks for your quick reply. I have actually finished removing all of the items that you have instructed above. Was able to finally remove the MCU box after removing all of the connectors at its front and back side. And the single bolt at its lower right portion had to be removed as well. Then the whole MCU box could be pulled straight down to release it from the upper latch. Finally, I could get to cleaning the internal circuit board. Thanks anyway.
