Probably. Not sure if an 8" width is OK, but the European 3rd gen's even have an optional 19" wheel/tire combo available. You need to be wary of offset and total tire diameter as well as the width. Check tirerack.com for known good fitments.

Good catch. I forgot that they came with 17's and the brakes are once again, bigger.
