Sirius installation

Hey guys just got my new CR-V a week ago and I have a Sirius Sportster Replay and want to get in installed. Have any of you done this?

I want to get it directly connected to the back of the unit with the FM connector to get better reception. I am a little nervous about having the dash taken apart so soon.Any suggestions?

Jason

I do this for a living. What do you want to know? I would say to get it done by best buy or somewhere with a life time warranty myself. i fix to many peoples cars after they try to do it them selves and make a mess of it, and end up costing themselves more.

question

oh trust me I plan on taking it somewhere to get it installed I would have no steering wheel by the time I got done with it....

I was wondering if I needed to get another wire to hook up a plug and play unit besides the direct FM connector? I read somewhere that you need an adapter sometimes.

Thanks,
Jason

I'm glad you mentioned that, I have XM and am getting tired of waiting for them to merge with Sirius - if it's not going to be reletively soon, is there a simple and inexpensive way to convert my EX-Navi to Sirius?

I think you can go to SIRIUS Radios, SIRIUS antennas, SIRIUS accessories | TSS-Radio and find all the gear you need to switch you XM over to Sirius. I think it is around 100 bucks to be honest I would just go with a plug and play unit that you can use in your house and in your CR-V for about the same amount of money.

you just have to get the propriatary sirius reciever and swap it and maybe the antenna out. The merger if it happens, will not affect the units you already have, you wont need to buy new stuff.

besides the wired fm mod, all you will need is a power extention plug, because you cant cut the male end of the power plug off of the sirius unit, because it runs of 5-6 volts, and the step down is in the plug, so you use an extention, and hardwire that in so it turn off and on with the car, just like the radio.

Thanks. Is that somewhere to be found in the link that soia76 provided?

OK, so based on your experience, where does one obtain this "propriatary sirius reciever" and antenna you spoke of?
