Well yes and no.

If you want to buy a full sized wheel and normal spare tire, have at it. You can buy replacement wheels from your dealer or every now and again you will find them here in the trading post, although nobody will probably part with just one. If you are not fussy as to what the wheel looks like you can buy full size wheels from Tire Rack, presuming that you are just using it for a spare. It will work fine but not match if you are going to put the wheel into the tire rotation. The full sized wheel and tire should fit in your well, so I'm told.

What you can't do, as drivezki indicated is put a regular tire on the existing spare wheel.

Welcome to the club and good luck with your spare.

No.... All i want to do is take out the spare tire completely and replace it with a full size tire..(I know it will fit because that is where you put the full tire when you put the spare on after a flat)...I will probably have to buy a new rim....but my main concern is when I put the new tire in there will the cover go on top and will there be a big bump in the cargo space of my crv?

I Believe It Will Be Fine!

But I don't know that for a fact. You may be correct, the tire may be wide enough to raise the well cover. However I wished you would have asked that question a couple of months ago when I had my snow tires and wheels on. I would taken the spare out and checked for you. My winter tires and wheels are 16" and are slightly undersized so I don't know that it would give you a true answer with the 17 wheels. Next time I rotate tires I check for you, if you can wait that long.

A regular tire/wheel will fit, but it'll be too high to put the cover down. The spare is skinny.

The original question was 'if it will fit just fine'. That's not fine in my book.

I have a vague recollection of checking that.

If I had a dollar for every vague recollection that I had I would be rich, but I thought I looked into that and that it would work, but then again I don't know it for a fact. I may have measured the well but I know I didn't put one of the regular tires in the well and try the cover.

One way to find out! Go get some exercise. I am too damned lazy, and it ain't my question, but I will check it the next time I rotate tires.

The full size wheel will fit into the wheel well but you'll have to cut or remove the padding under the cover so you can close them properly. I actually went a different route and took "out" the spare and put in 2 cans of fix-a flats and a compressor because I am planning on doing a system so I'll need all the room down there for the battery and amps.

Fix A Flat & TPMS

The fix a flat stuff should not be used with TPMS. Apparently it clogs the sensors.

From page 260 of the 08 manual (page 244 of the 07)

Never use a puncture-repairing agent
in a flat tire. If used, you will have to
replace the tire pressure sensor.
Have the flat tire repaired by your
dealer as soon as possible.
