bird poo

First off, happy to have found this place and to be here

Now for my problem.

I left some bird poop on my car (I know, I know, bad mistake) in the area between the top rack supports and my driver side doors. Previously I was pretty good about washing my car and wiping off same-day poo, but I just slacked this once. When I went to wash my car this weekend, the poo came off but some yellow discoloration was left. So I wiped and wiped and *gasp* went at it with my thumbnail (second bad mistake)...and a little chip appeared in the center of the discoloration.

Now I got a small chip, and the discolored area seems a little raised. It appears to be only a clear coat issue as it's not deep. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this (short of going to a body shop...though I'm open to it if all else fails). I do have some touch-up paint from my dealer (who gave it gratis to fill in some tiny rusty spots) and the accessories guy said I could just use that...but it just seems like more of a band aid attempt considering the raised aspect of the blemish.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Wecome To The Club!

Not sure about your bird poo problem, other than clean your finger nail real good. We got some people here that are pretty knowledgeable on paint care. The other thing I would suggest is going on one of the car wax forums and state your problem. I know Meguiars has one and I would suspect the other brands have them too.

Hope some one can help. Welcome to the club and good luck with the poo eradication.

Probably if you go to a body shop and ask them to buff that area with the machine/buffer should fix the problem for a few bucks.
I do not think you damaged the clear coat with your nail.
I park under a tree everyday and birds love to poop on my car and not the others, I may be cursed.

After you get it fixed make sure you put a good coat of wax on it as it acts as a buffer between bird poop (airbourne chemicals,uv rays) and your paint.Welcome to the club.
