Conventional lube oil is made just by skimming off the appropriate crude distillation fraction, filtering it as necessary (mechanically and chemically), and adding the appropriate additives. Synthetic oil involves taking something that doesn't even vaguely resemble lubricating oil (e.g. Natural Gas), and using chemical processes to create lube oil from it.

We can thank Castrol for bastardizing synthetic motor oil.

Those bastages! It's like making powdered milk where all you have to do is add milk. Or, like Steven Wright said, "I bought some powdered water, but I don't know what to add." And what about those instant tacos? jk

Seriously, though, I agree that as long as it meets the stated requirements, go for the best price.

Have you looked at your CRV owner’s manual?........does it have different oil weights for summer/winter? My owner’s manual says 0W20 year round ambient temps. I’m guessing my owner’s manual disregards where I live.......yours probably disregards location as well.

I’m sure some auto manufacturers are now recommending 0W16......why else would 0W16 be refined?

In a water cooled engine, internal normal operating temps do not vary much during the 4 seasons.

Yeah so if you read up on it the lower viscosity oil gear towards increased fuel mileage....

I would never put 16 weight oil in our engines that call for 20 weight but that's just me

That lower viscosity can't be good for internals unless they are specifically designed for it.

Have any posts in this thread even suggested using 0W16?
