Top mount trunk gate hinges 05 CRV

So I have what I consider a mostly nice 05 CRV. Awhile ago I backed into a light pole. It bent my rear gate and hinges, and unbeknownst to me crunched the metal under the bottom hinge. I had pulled a new door from the scrap yard and on install i found the lower mounting bracket unable to be aligned as a result. I like to consider myself pretty handy, but don’t have the means or the funds to pull the panel straight myself or pay someone to do it. If i undo all the mounting bolts with the door shut it sit straight and proper. Is it possible to put hinges on the top of the door and have it open vertical instead of horizontal? I know it is a heavy door but I feel with some salvage gas pistons from something still TBD it could work. Has anyone ever done this? Is this a stupid idea and I should save my money to have a body shop fix it?

No because there is no support in the roof for that kind of weight.

It's not that hard really to pull it back straight. A come-along, pry bar, tree and a hammer. Will get it close enough with some effort.
