  1. High RPM's uphill/Cruise Control

1999-2001 Official Specs, Features, Etc. (Gen 1.5)
Just curious - is your 2006 CR-V 6 speed a transmission modification, or maybe it's not a U.S model? I would have loved to have found a manual shift CR-V, but of course they're very hard to find. Test drove a '98 - the only thing I didn't like was the short gearing. At 65 mph it was probably...
  2. Old CR-V Trick - 1st Generation only

1996-2001 Official Specs, Features, Etc. (Gen 1)
My dad had a 1950 Nash Ambassador. I remember him mentioning the unique feature of the reclining seats.

1996-2001 Official Specs, Features, Etc. (Gen 1)
I guess it can't be all that bad then if you drive it for prolonged periods like that. Knowing that the it's not detrimental to the engine helps too. Getting 25mpg is certainly acceptable in an AWD SUV. if you don't mind and have a chance I'd be curious to see what rpms you're at when going...
  4. Test drove a 1998 EX

1996-2001 Official Specs, Features, Etc. (Gen 1)
Yea - a good stereo is key! If I did buy it and replace it (a single CD player) I'd probably go with a memory stick/card player. So you dealt with it over very long distances and amount of time. I suppose I could too. I guess I like the slight crudeness of the thing. Kind of how my Forester was...
  5. Test drove a 1998 EX

1996-2001 Official Specs, Features, Etc. (Gen 1)
This probably would be relegated to mostly local driving - but ya never know. I remember riding in a friend's Civic, on the highway it certainly was up there, at least 3300-3400 if I recall correctly. I remember looking at the tach and thinking it was slightly more than my (at the time) 1998...
  6. Test drove a 1998 EX

1996-2001 Official Specs, Features, Etc. (Gen 1)
It's a manual transmission, excellent shape. I didn't find a deficit in horsepower (126) with the B20 engine, seemed fine for me with the 5 speed. It ran/drove excellent, smooth and easy shifting unlike the manual transmission 2002 Toyota Camry I test drove with a slipping clutch. The only thing...

I was hoping just the duplicate post could be removed, but it seems that's not the case.
  8. 2005 for sale with high miles

2002-2004 Official Specs, Features, Etc. (Gen 2)
I was also concerned about the chain - maybe over time they can become stretched? Believe it or not the price is very good based on other comparisons in this area, but either way I don't think I'll pay over 3k for something with that kind of mileage. But damn it looks great - it's a black beauty...
  9. 2005 for sale with high miles

2002-2004 Official Specs, Features, Etc. (Gen 2)
The Gen 2 2002-2006 forum doesn't have an option to start a new thread. I'm considering the purchase of an older CR-V, I prefer the 2005 + Gen 2s because of the 5 speed automatic transmission. I know the 2.4L engine is chain driven along with a good reputation. I found a 2005 but it has 228k...

Thanks for the reply - yes I saw both posts. Hello - Thursday evening I created a post in the Gen 1 forum. Friday I didn't see it, thinking I may have made an error so I posted again. I then realized my original post may not have appeared because it needs to be approved my a moderator? I don't see either as of 8/11 10:00am EDT. If both...
  12. 1998 CR-V AWD... Good Buy?

1996-2001 Official Specs, Features, Etc. (Gen 1)
I'll post about the 1998 5MT I recently saw for sale. This does answer some questions I had. Good to see I'm not the only one considering the purchase of a 20 year old vehicle.
  13. Not a CR-V owner yet

    Greetings & Introductions
But I may become one. I currently have a company van and my own truck. I'm looking for an older, economical and reliable vehicle. High miles are Ok as I drive less than ~5k miles a year with my own vehicles. I previously had a Subaru Forester 5MT. It was a great vehicle, but when the AC failed I...
