  1. Coolant

    Maintenance and Service
I do not see anywhere on the Prestone bottle or on their website (probably other brands as well) saying "mixing provides less performance/protection".🤷‍♂️ Sure, Prestone (and other brands) want you to buy their version of cooling system cleaner and flush crud from the cooling system. No where...
  2. Coolant

    Maintenance and Service
How old and how biased is that Honda article? Prestone Extended Life antifreeze/coolant, and other brands of antifreeze/coolant, have been silicate, phosphate, borate and nitrite free for probably 10 years now. I don't think Honda invented the aluminum water cooled motor or silicate free...

    Miscellaneous / General CR-V Discussions
Try a carabiner on a belt loop.
  4. Coolant

    Maintenance and Service
FWIW, the Prestone Extended Life jug says "Any Make, Any Model, Any Color".🤷‍♂️ I've mixed Prestone with Toyota coolant that has red food color.......zero, zip, nada issues. Since Prestone says "Any Color", I would think it would mix with blue food color just fine.
  5. Are bluetooth scanners useful, if the dashboard isn't showing any problems?

    Problems & Issues
ScanGauge II does. 114F tranny fluid temp along with boost/vacuum (BST), engine coolant temp (CT1) and cold radiator tank temp (CT2)..........along with a dozen or so more, including DTC's.(y) FWIW, I've observed a high tranny fluid temp of 229F (not towing)......others have observed even...
  6. Turbo 2019 Honda CRV

    Reviews
Live dangerous and blow a little soot out of the motor.......turn ECO off, shift to “S” and look at that big ol’ grin in the rear view mirror. Caution....only do this for a day or two as it may become habit forming.😱
  7. Turbo 2019 Honda CRV

    Reviews
When boost gets to about 7, the grin gets bigger.👍 I thinking “the growl” comes from the air filter box because the sound reminds me of way, way, way back in the day it was cool to flip the lid over on the air cleaner and hear “the growl”. Anybody here remember those days?😇
  8. Are bluetooth scanners useful, if the dashboard isn't showing any problems?

    Problems & Issues
Would it tell you personally anything useful????.........probably not, IF I’m reading correctly between the lines of the thread title and the thread itself. Sounds like, to me, you are only interested in a warning notification if there is a malfunction. I may be wrong, but I don’t think scanners...
  9. 2008 CRV exhaust issue. Worth it to to fix it?

    Problems & Issues
Exhaust fumes getting inside the cab?........that could be serious.
  10. 2019 ex fat tires

    Tires, Wheels and Suspensions
The 1st number in the metric tire size determines fatter/narrower. 255 is fatter/wider than 235 by 3/4”+.

  13. Towing 1500lbs, 5 speed auto or CV trans?

2012-2016 Official Specs, Features, Etc. (Gen 4)
    (y) Does the tow package include a auxiliary cooler? Any idea what the tranny fluid temp is when towing?
  14. Towing 1500lbs, 5 speed auto or CV trans?

2012-2016 Official Specs, Features, Etc. (Gen 4)
Awesome.........what does your towed load weigh???? How hot does the tranny run? How often do you change the tranny fluid? Do you have a auxiliary tranny cooler installed? I've seen our CVT at 229F not towing:eek:, others have reported even hotter.:eek:
  15. Hello Toyota

    Dear Honda: (Feedback Forum)
To be honest, I could not care less who makes the Ridgeline, sales numbers, whatever. If I was blindfolded, sitting in the passenger seat, while somebody drove me around, I could easily tell the Ridgeline from the Taco, the Ranger, the Gladiator or the Canyon/Colorado........it's that much...
  16. Hello Toyota

    Dear Honda: (Feedback Forum)
I've test driven the Gen 2 Ridgeline (and other compact P/U's) several times........and almost pulled the trigger several times.......then stepped back and did a little "do I really need another P/U" thinking. For me (us) the Ridgeline passes all of the "what do I need a vehicle for"...
  17. Oil Change Expectations

2017 - Present Official Specs, Features, Etc. (Gen
Actually, I simply apologized, but didn't say what I apologized for. Now I will say it.......I apologize for my post #29 directed at williamsji, nothing else.
  18. Hello Toyota

    Dear Honda: (Feedback Forum)
To me, it sounds like the OP has been very happy/satisfied with the make and type of his current vehicle for 13+ years now. It's served him very well. Hope he doesn't make a vehicle purchase mistake out of spite toward a dealership. Wonder how much P/U he needs? Maybe none at all. We traded-in...
  19. 2012 CRV Heater Core Flush did not fix problem

    Problems & Issues
I received the latest edition of the CR Buying Guide last week. In the section titled Detailed Used Car Reliability trouble spots shows the 2013- 2018 CRV “Climate System” getting “top marks” or “next to top marks”. These results are from CRV owner surveys. Seems like if there was a big problem...
  20. Hello Toyota

    Dear Honda: (Feedback Forum)
FWIW, the current CR Buying Guide shows the Honda Ridgeline with a 74 overall score (#1)........the Toyota Tacoma got a 45 overall score (tied for last).
