I also had similar problems with my temp gauge. It’s probably a stuck open thermostat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. 1997 Honda CRV with intermittent starting problem

    Problems & Issues
But did you start the car twice within a short period of time? Sometimes pressure can fall gradually over longer periods, so it becomes harder to start the car the longer it’s been sitting. Have you examined your battery? Pretty easy to test it using a voltmeter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. CR-V mods

1999-2001 Official Specs, Features, Etc. (Gen 1.5)
That’s pretty dope. I saw this through Garage built hondas. Depending on how long I plan on keeping mine, I may look into doing a few more mods. So far I’ve only done the widow deflectors and Honda Element rear windshield wiper Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. Just bought my first CR-V, have a couple issues

    Problems & Issues
First of all, $850 is a steal. I would make sure I change ALL the fluids, starting with the transmission, engine oil, coolant, and working your way through rear diff, power steering, brake. Try to use only genuine Honda, or Honda approved for coolant, ATF, power steering, and rear diff. I got...
  9. Throttle acting funny 2001 crv

    Problems & Issues
Update Problem solved. I lubed some more, then with the engine off, floored the gas pedal a few times. Seems to be working fine now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Throttle acting funny 2001 crv

    Problems & Issues
Gen 1 crv. Recently removed the throttle body to give it a proper cleaning, and now the gas pedal retracts only ~98% of the way when I release it. I find I have to use my big toe to pull the gas pedal towards me when I wanna bring the rpms down to idle. I’ve tried lubing the cable at the TB as...
  11. 1st gen cruise button light

    Problems & Issues
2001 crv se. I was going through the interior, and noticed the word ‘Cruise’ does not light up when headlights are on. The amber indicator right above it does light up when you press the button, but I thought the actual letters in ‘Cruise’ were supposed to stay lit (so you can see the button in...

  14. Unable to achieve proper valve lash

    Problems & Issues
I won’t let this be the final product. I am doing it one last time, and this time I will put the feeler gauge in the gap and tighten the clearance until it binds completely, then back off a tiny bit so I can pull out the feeler with resistance. Does anyone know if the intake valves tend to be...

  17. Unable to achieve proper valve lash

    Problems & Issues
Redid everything for a 3rd time. Basically, I tightened everything until the feeler wouldn’t go through, then backed off just a bit so the feeler could go through with a little effort. Right now it feels like all clearances have significant drag, but this seems more correct to me. Started the...
  18. Unable to achieve proper valve lash

    Problems & Issues
NEVERMIND! The timing belt only seemed loose at TDC for each cylinder, which is normal. What I realize is the problem, is I don’t know what Honda means by “slight drag” when using the feeler gauges. What I think is, that my exhaust side is spot on, but my intake side is too loose. I am going to...
  19. Unable to achieve proper valve lash

    Problems & Issues
Buttoned everything back up, and started the engine. It started much faster than usual; usually it takes 2-3 cranks, but this time it started in 1 crank. What followed was a very disturbing and loud sound from the engine and a fast idle (1800rpm). I opened the valve cover back up, and found that...
  20. Unable to achieve proper valve lash

    Problems & Issues
I am also confused by this. Lash on the exhaust valves is currently about 0.10mm. My thought is that maybe It has to do with the valves themselves, which would indicate a bigger problem. Maybe I need to run the engine for a while and go back in to see if I am able to adjust it better. We shall...
