  1. Gen 1: 1996-2001 (UK 1995-2001) CR-V
(Original thread got merged/closed due to having 3 different topics, shortened just to the relevant bits for this thread and am trying again.) I recently performed my first ever compression test on my '98 CR-V (engine is a B20z with ~80,000 miles out of a 2001 though). I've never even looked at...
  2. Gen 1: 1996-2001 (UK 1995-2001) CR-V
Hey guys, My check engine light started blinking, and my car was puttering and shaking a little bit while in idle, and there was a noticeable loss in power as I drove. I took it to autozone to check the error codes which pointed towards cylinders 1 and 4, and issues with the fuel injector. So...
  3. Gen 1: 1996-2001 (UK 1995-2001) CR-V
Hi! New to the forum and to the CRV. I just bought a 1998 LX manual trans awd with a blown engine. When I searched for engines it looked like the 97-2001s all took interchangeable engines - I am now sweating bullets that this may be wrong, can someone let me know if I made a mistake? The...
  4. Performance Modifications
Hello, I know I have an issue with an exhaust valve on #4 that's receded and won't adjust. I'm trying to determine if a rebuilt head will be sufficient or if the engine overall is worn. It has 177xxx on it - I've owned it since '03 and have been good about maintenance. It doesn't exhibit oil...
  5. Gen 1: 1996-2001 (UK 1995-2001) CR-V
I recently purchased a 2001 Honda CR-V. I know nothing about them, so I come here to fire my questions and tell my story. It has been running great the last month or so. I took it in to my local Honda dealer for a little bit of an idle flutter, they call and tell me that all cylinders are great...
  6. Gen 1: 1996-2001 (UK 1995-2001) CR-V
I returned from deployment a while ago and spent some money and time on my V. I have a 2001 EX and here's what I've done recently: Iron Man lift springs with Tokico struts 215/70R15 tires Replaced trailing arm bushing and a couple motor mounts Flushed/refilled ALL fluids Cleaned injectors...
  7. Gen 1: 1996-2001 (UK 1995-2001) CR-V
I have a 2001 crv 97000 miles.Just done a compression test and 3 cylinders were 190 but unfortunately 1 was down to 175.. Going to check valve clearances but i don't think that's the problem. Any ideas please.
  8. Shopping & Test Driving
I'm looking to buy a Gen 1 (AWD) - either '97/ '98 engine or the higher compression '99 / '01 that , according to 'net etc, has higher compression and more power. Have driven the '97 and it seems OK - only myself in the vehicle. I'm a bit concerned that the earlier engine will be underpowered...
  9. Miscellaneous / General CR-V Discussions
2001 CRV low compression on cyl 1 My 2001 CRV hasn't been running quite that bad, rough idle but not stalling, but has P0301 code and flunked inspection. They said low compression on cyl 1. I see online how valve adj issues occur on this engine, so I've got a manual and hope I'm not going in...
