Every dipstick I have seen until now has two holes, or some kind of crosshatching to indicate the low and high oil levels. My 2012 Dipstick has no crosshatching marks, and only one hole. How do I read the oil level?

Hi Just bought CR-V 2018 Touring and I decided to check oil. And it is honestly quite hard to put oil stick back. I had to rotate it, move up and down until it fits back. I never had that issue on 2014 Civic or 2014 Accord. Does anybody else have this problem? Vlad

So do I read the oil level based on the dark blob that seems to be within the low and high range? Or based on the drop that is on the stick above the orange tip? This is very confusing. The oil definitely has gasoline smell.

I would like to remove the orange plastic tip from the dipstick in order to make it easier to read. It is nearly impossible to see the level when the oil is fresh since it almost seems to "climb" up the tip even with the dipstick held down or horizontal. Of course the new oil is transparent...
