Hi guys. I have a 2003 crv with 200k miles and automatic transmission. I have this problem when the car takes too long to shift to a higher gear. I usually have to coast right before it shifts or it will rev and jerk forward violently. Do you guys have any solution to this problem?
Cliff notes: very babied SE 2016 2WD with 30k miles - vibration in drive at a traffic light, sluggish acceleration - fluid looked and smelled bad and had LOTS of metal shavings in it. After only 1 drain/refill vibration is gone and acceleration improved.

I'm undecided between getting a MT or AT CR-V. One of the factors is that we will be towing our catamaran and a light travel trailer. Nothing over 1500 lbs.
Is the manual transmission preferable to the automatic one, when it comes to towing?
