Just a few days ago my Automatic 97' started to make a loud Lawnmower-like sound out of the Muffler when revved. It only makes the noise and shakes as as if it is about to die when in Idle and First gear. The noise and shaking stops after entering second gear. What is the problem? The only thing we did to it recently was change the valve cover gasket, and put different oil in it... cheap oil, if that makes a difference, and change tire pressure. Thanks.

Maybe the muffler has rusted out or become loose at its front intake joint. That would explain the noise.
If the oil is the proper wt, then it should be OK. Check the oil level on the dipstick.
Guess you would have to look underneath it while it is making those noises, preferably on a hoist.
Check the spark plugs, dist cap and rotor and spark plug wires.
The cheaper NGK V-power spark plugs seem to work great in that early CRV.( NGK 2262 ZFR5F-11 V-Power Plug)
