ok 1997 269,000 miles and need help the right/pass/ rear drum brake hub is rubbing the shoes. the axel is tight. also the brake plate is tight . But some how the shoes are rubbing on the brake hub and it is all the way around the shoes . I put shims to move the hub out but it is taking more shims so something is wearing.

the only thing I can think of is some how the axel that the hub mounts to is moving into the shoes and yes the shoes are tight to the backing plate. I cannot feel any movement on the axel . the left /driv/ side is also starting to rub so
how can the axels be pulling the hubs into the center and nothing is loose ?

Are you sure the lip of the drum isn't just rusted?
yes it is not. the rubbing is the outside edge of the brake shoes rubbing the area flat area on the drum. If you think of the drum as a bucket it would be the bottom where the mounting holes are.

I would think if things had worn I should have movement on the axel but no as the hob mounts to it. I have shimmed the drum almost 1/4 in to keep it from rubbing on the shoes.
