2000 crv not starting

So I recently replaced the distributor on my crv. Had some misfires occasionally beforehand even after wires and plugs. So after replacement it will not start. I have spark on all 4 wires and can smell gas. What could I be missing?

Did you replaced it with a new one or a used one? Do you still have the old one? Did you marked the position of the old distributor before you took it out?
I did the same thing to my CRV . There is no real set place for the distributor timing location. It says to put it in the center. I did and it runs good and bad it constantly changes.k what else to look at?

it was a brand new one. I still have the old one. I didn't mark where I took the other one out. Also found no markings on the old or new for where to exactly line it up at.
Sorry what I meant was before the old one was taken out it's better to mark the position of the distributor in relation to the head. So this way you wont need to set the base timing again. Try to install the old one then see if it fires up. You'll need to look at the timing marks in front of the cam cover & at the back of the pulley. I believe it's the white mark. You'll need a timing light to do this. Was the spark blue or Orange? What plugs did you use? What brand? What brand of New Distributor did you bought? I have seen many Aftermarket distributor that's poor quality.
I am not a expert but I took it to a shop and they said there is no timing mark on the 2000 crv. I looked it up and it also says put in the middle.
