Hi everyone...I signed up on the forums today to ask for a bit of help regarding a particular CR-V that I am interested in. During my car search, I came across this 2006 Honda CR-V EX AWD for $4,500 (1 Owner, No Accidents on Record according to AutoCheck). It seems to be a great vehicle but my only concern is the mileage (which is 154,631), since I was limiting my search to under 140,000 miles but I may be willing to make an exception. Would you consider this to be a wise buy and if so, (If I decide to purchase this) are there any common problems that I should expect within the 150,000-200,000+ miles range? I want to take this to college with me (it would be my first car) and I plan on keeping it for a good while (Most likely 5 to 6 years). Routing maintenance wouldn't be a problem for me but I don't want to buy a car that could have potential issues in general that would cost me an arm and a leg. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Offer $4,000 for it. I think it looks great and it will definitely last a long time. Let us know what you decide.

Good looking CRV and it appears the owner took good care of it.

I bought my 2007 CRV from a neighbor but before I bought it, I took it to my mechanic and I paid him $100.00 to go over it carefully. He put it on a lift and showed me everything under the car so I could see for myself. He also test drove it and check everything under the hood and everything needed to make an analysis for my decision. There were a few minor things that could easily be fixed and the owner knocked off a few hundred since that is what it would cost me to have my mechanic take care of it. That was over two years ago and my dear sweet CRV has been a delight.

See if you can find a mechanic and have the CRV looked over carefully so it will give you peace of mind. It is really worth it.
The CRV's are know for reliability and the long haul even with higher mileage. If the car passes the mechanics analysis, you will LOVE that car and enjoy driving it.

|Definitely get it checked by a reliable mechanic as others have suggested. At that mileage there will be normal wear and tear, brakes, suspension, tires.

This seems like a great price. One thing I've realized while car shopping is that if something is too good to be true, then they usually are. If this is not a private party sale, then definitely get checked out by an independent mechanic. The price seems low if you go by book value (kbb, nada, edmunds) and my experience is that dealers (small or big) usually won't list a vehicle at lower than book value without a reason.
