I've been having a problem recently with my 2007 EX. It'll occasionally refuse to start. Its seems as if theres a problem with they key. The key will turn in the ignition, but nothing happens. When the key is inserted, the display on the dashboard does not illuminate, and if a door is opened with the key in the ignition the car does not been as it usually does. The key can open the doors manually, but remote locking and unlocking do not work. This is true for both of my honda provided keys.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, im certainly not much of a mechanic.

Does anything electrical work when that happens? (lights, horn, etc)
The dash lights should work regardless if the key battery is dead, I believe.
I would check the car battery and its connections to make sure they are good.
It is also possible that the ignition switch is failing.

Sounds like an ignition switch to me. Have you weighted your keys down, with a multitude of other objects and stuff? This can lead to ignition switch failure. (Just ask any GM engineer.)

The key has a transponder chip inside, but IIRC the green key icon in the dash will blink if it is not being recognized.
