2007 with about 170,000 miles. Has been great vehicle. Had developed slightly high idle speed, 1000-1200 rpm. Removed and cleaned throttle body and did idle relearn. Idle about 9500-950 rom. Noticed throttle plate not closed tight even when off vehicle. Has started slow return to idle when take foot off throttle from when driving. This has the electronic idle air control. How or can I clean this or dismantle without damage to see why throttle sticking? Or other suggestions. Car starts promptly and idles smooth, just slightly high.

if the throttle plane is not closing flush or has play (loose) that will cause your problem as it is letting air leak by and messing up the air fuel mixture metering

After do re-learn procedure idle speed comes down to about 900, maybe 850. Then when drive it maybe few minutes or hours then fast idle again and eventually check engine light. stf and ltft?

short term and long term fuel trim live data air fuel mixture + or - a vacuum leak maybe, if you have a scanner that does live data the cheap $10 dongle to android work great for live data with the TORQUE app off google play
, anyway what code are you getting, sounds like a bad throttle body ,but the code is going to tell a lot, also the relearn you are doing is disconnecting the negative battery cable and holding it on the positive for a few second right, also try cleaning the throttle body by disconnecting negative battery terminal and soaking a rag with carburetor cleaner and stick a long skinny screw driver in one side of the throttle plate at a time and scrub the bore and plate,if possible its better to remove the throttle body but only if you are comfortable doing that,do not try to open the throttle plate manually with battery connected especially if the key is in the run position, also a bad purge valve that is not shutting or sealing can do what is happening but you should be seeing positive 10 or so fuel trim at idle, usually you would get a p0171 or p0145c high idle code is p0507 or p2279
