Was changing wipers and filters this weekend and when I pulled the cabin filter on the 2012 CRV EX there was a pile of white fluffy stuff above it. (Fan is below the filter and this stuff was above the filter.) I pulled out what I could and here's a photo of it:

Seems like 2 materials in there - white fluffy stuff like cotton and something more stiff like the edge of the cabin filter I was replacing.

Internet searching this results in things like mice or some critter. Makes sense but I would have expected some sign of feces or urine and there was none. To me it looked more like something from above that came a part and dropped.

Any ideas?

You have mice....I had the exact same thing in my 2012 except that chinks of the white insulation / sound deadener was sitting right on top of the cabin filter. There was also no evidence of droppings. I started to park the car in the garage and the problem went away.
