2016 CR-V Touring

I have been a Honda owner since 1974 and have nothing but praise for the make. I am somewhat puzzled over the issue my 2016 Touring is plaguing me with.

This problem can happen whether we been driving for hours or simply overnight, the vehicle won’t start and needs a jump. While we have a Halo pack which is a multi function unit which will jump the car it is driving us crazy.

The fob eats batteries as well and we had the car brought to Honda Service and the battery shows it’s fine and all we were told was we don’t drive it enough. I can’t accept this as an answer since checking out the problem shows it has been around since 2013 with the Accord when the keyless system was used.

Does anyone else have this issue and if so how was it resolved? Thank you very much in advance for any solution to this problem since I’m 100% disabled and my wife drives me to all my medical appointments and needs and she is afraid to drive the car without me there since she doesn’t really understand how to jump it if needed.

Thanks, yeah I know a battery could be reaching its EOL at 3 1/2 years but they did a stress test and said it was fine. My fobs battery was fine but my wife’s went through 3 batteries in 5 weeks, then I gave her mine and the battery in it dies in 3 weeks, that one I believe is the communication from the vehicle to the fob or vice versa.

I just can’t believe a keyless entry system should be this problematic in this day and age, regards.

There are no aftermarket devices save the connector to charge our iPhones which are not charging unless we are actively driving somewhere.

Now it’s really gotten stranger! If I use my fob to drive, a not very often occurrence, my wife cannot get into the car with her fob and when she finally does get in the brake is all the way to the floor and the car won’t start until you change the battery in her fob, this is crazy, we have under 8000 miles on it!

silverboy, forgot to answer your question, I live in Maine.

My wife keeps her fob on a clamp that slides onto her purse so no chance of the buttons being activated since it is outside the purse and lives on a desk in the living room, mine lives in a basket in the living room, this is really driving us nuts.

Well after the light show the dash assembly put on Thursday and the haunted hatch door dancing up and down with nothing whatsoever impeding it from closing my wife hit her last straw so we now own a 2019 Modern Metal HR-V Sport Edition that has a Key and less electronic fruit salad which I doubt we’ll miss, cheers.
