Unless you purchased an extended warranty, your manufacturer warranty is long expired.Have been told by oil change company that 0-20 weight blended oil is no longer available. They want to use synthetic instead at an increase of $30 for oil change. I asked if they had another blended oil. They have 5-30, but said the use would invalidate warranty.
My 2016 has 85,000 miles. Is there still any warranty and is it true that the use of 5-30 would invalidate warranty?

What country has a 2.5 liter gas engine?2.5 litre gas
Powertrain warranty has expired. It will effect the warranty because its a different oil viscosity that Honda does not recommend.
Not true at all. A 5w30 will not harm a Honda at all, in fact in many countries grades as high as 5w40 are used in these engines. 0w20 or 5w20 are purely for ‘“cafe” standards. Not one of my Hondas through the years have ever been refilled will any grade lower than a 5w30. A post or two claim it can void a warranty, which is not true. A recommendation of grade is not mandatory. It will effect the warranty because its a different oil viscosity that Honda does not recommend. As a dealer Technician, use the oil that the oil cap indicates or look in your owners manual. You definitely wanna use full synthetic ow-20, but putting 5w-20 won't hurt anything, maybe slightly less gas mileage. As far as the 5w-30 idea, I would not put that in your CR-V, it's much more viscous and can cause internal problems down the road. That is my personal opinion and experience in the industry and specifically for Honda's.
Don’t agree 5w-30 would do any harm. It could even be a positive. Any DI engine, like the OP’s, will experience fuel dilution and a 30-weight oil will be in the range of a 20 in short order. If readers would like objective evidence of this look at used oil analyses on Bobistheoilguy.com.It will effect the warranty because its a different oil viscosity that Honda does not recommend. It will not invalidate a warranty, but this car is out of warranty by age. In 38 years working for Honda I have never seen a claim denied due to oil grade, lack of oil service yes, grade never. Do you think a facility can tell grade by looking or that they send a sample to be inspected? Not once.Have been told by oil change company that 0-20 weight blended oil is no longer available. NO, and you have no remaining manufacturer warranty anyways. Do what you want.Have been told by oil change company that 0-20 weight blended oil is no longer available. You my friend have fallen for the F.U.D. Syndrome. This is where the marketing folks prey on the uninformed. The F.U.D. syndrome is what is commonly used to confuse and convince the uneducated to believe their marketing ploy. F.U.D. stands for "Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt". If companies can instill this it scares the uneducated consumers into believing anything they say because of F. U. D. So most people fall in line because they are afraid of being screwed. Being accurately informed can cure this syndrome. It will effect the warranty because its a different oil viscosity that Honda does not recommend.
