My local dealer says that his leather guy does a better job than the factory and for less money. Is that reasonable - that an EX w/his leather could be a better choice than an EX-L? Are their different features in an EX vs an EX-L or is it all about the leather?

I'm about to do a search for a comprehensive comparison between the trim lines.

TIA

I'd ask for a reference. Decide for yourself after comparing factory leather to the dealer's 'leather guy' outcome.

If possible, visit the leather guy's customer yourself (with a loaner EX-L to compare) and look at feel and fit.

Also consider warranty!

Also, the EX-L "leather" seats are "Leather-Trimmed", which means part of the seat covers are leather, and the rest is not leather.

The question then becomes what are they putting in the EX to upgrade the seat covers to leather?

Here are the differences I found browsing through the automobiles.honda.com information:

Things EX-L has that aren't on the EX:
Curb weight 19 lbs higher
Power Tailgate with Programmable Height
Leather-Wrapped Steering Wheel and Shift Knob
Automatic-Dimming Rearview Mirror
HomeLink® Remote System
Two-position memory on driver's seat
Leather-Trimmed Seats
Front Passenger's Seat with 4-Way Power Adjustment
8 speakers instead of 6
