Need Help:
All of a sudden, the COMPASS no longer shows on the Center Screen. I turned to the Honda Owner's Manual, and there is no discussion of the compass; not even a mention in the Index.
Did I unknowingly push the wrong button, causing the Compass to stop displaying?

Which model of CRV? And I assume this is with no GPS in the Headunit.. right?

Technically, all the EX and up have GPS in the head unit, they just may not have Navigation software. (A GPS receiver is a pre-req for a head unit to have Android Auto/CarPlay; the car also uses it to set the clock, because why not?)

GPS enabled or not in the HU does not matter in this context. What matters is does the CRV in question have a GPS Navigation System active or not. The reason I asked the question is because the compass feature works differently in a CRV with GPS and one without it.

Have you checked to make sure the zone is set correctly for the compass ? If so, have you tried re-calibrating the compass ?

See pgs. 442 & 443 of the owner's manual for these procedures ...

You didn't ask about "GPS navigation system active or not"; what you said was "I assume this is with no GPS in the Headunit?" You keep pulling this topic into the ditch.

The fact that Honda may use a common Head Unit for Display Audio has no relevance in the discussion. If said GPS feature is not activated (because the owner did not purchase a vehicle with GPS)... then there is NO GPS for said vehicle.

What matters is.... is does the CRV in question have an active GPS system in the Head unit. If so.. the compass resides there. If not.. it resides on the instrument panel on an EX or EX-L. To help the OP with troubleshooting..we as forum members actually need the answer... not some non-sequitur about what Honda does or does not do behind the scenes with their HU hardware.

I will grant that GPS in the HU is probably a configuration at the factory on a common HU hardware as you claim (it is afterall... an Android OS hardware unit) ... and that they simply do not install the software to allow it to function on an HU for a vehicle configured and sold without GPS. The point is.. none of this matters for the question being asked by the OP.

The GPS is there and turned on in every EX and up HU. (You can tell it has a fix from the tiny satellite icon at the top of the HU.). You can also see the car's current coordinates in the HU's service menu. (Even in a car without nav.) The GPS module sets the clock and feeds the coordinates and speed/direction to your phone if you are using AA/CP.

Yup, every CRV has GPS built into it. Proof is you can use hondahack and install offline maps Ohh and its also used to tell you what time zone you are in.
