*RESOLVED* 2017 CRV + iPhone XR = No Phonebook Uploading - Old iPhone Worked Fine

Wife upgraded her iPhone 5 to an iPhone XR. The iPhone 5 was paired fine with the 2017 CRV EXL/Nav, and all contacts showed normally in the CRV's infotainment center.

The XR will pair fine with Bluetooth (Car Play disabled), but won't upload any contacts from her phonebook. It's grayed out on the car's phone section display. This is a problem, lol.

What's been done: removed all instances of her old iPhone in the car's phone settings. Gave her new phone a slightly different name. Paired it again, but no phonebook upload.

Tried Car Play - that works, and Siri will activate calls, but it doesn't work through the hands-free controls on the steering wheel. The message that comes up on the dashboard says to use the app on the screen, which extinguishes the advantages of hands free.

Without Car Play (disabled/OFF), hands free will bring up the speed dial and call history menu, but again, no phonebook import. Not useful at all.

Hard to believe an iPhone 5 would work fine in Bluetooth mode with all contacts imported, but not the XR with the same contact list.

iOS fully up to date on the phone.

Any ideas?

In the iOS settings -> Bluetooth options, click on the connection settings (letter i beside the car name), is the option to sync contacts enabled? I can't remember the name of the option but that one needs to be on.
Thanks! That was definitely the issue. Once I tapped the "i" icon next to the "HondaLink" connection (as it is named) in the Bluetooth settings on the XR, the options to sync contacts and display notifications were displayed. Once toggled ON, the contacts populated the phonebook perfectly. I've marked this thread resolved. Thanks again!
