I call it a Sunvisor, it serves to protect you when the Sun is above, also when it snows, rains wind etc. One of my best investments, will last a good 12 plus years, with Uv hitting strong on it My 2002 had one, my 97 had one. They look easy to install, they are easy to install. I just make it look easy that is all. Oh yes some one asked about steps. they are very useful. so not sure why forum people love to complain about things.

Ive never been a fan as I had issue with an OEM one messing up the paint only weeks after install. Also seen others with the issue as well.

On the 97, was it an aftermarket roof or some other part of the world as we in the US we didnt get them from the factory on the 1st gens.

1997 had a factory Sunroof, sure indeed, 12 years of ownership I never ran into that trouble maybe you had and others a bad experience not me (smiles)
