I have purchased my Honda CRV 2018 Touring trim Oct. 12th 2018
2 weeks after getting the CRV, I was driving from North Bay where I live to Toronto when suddenly THE CAR SLOWED DOWN WHILE @ 110 KM/HR so I pulled over and restarted the car normally.
Because of that, I started looking online for issues with CRVs when I tumbled upon the issue of oil dilution and recall in China (I was mad at the Honda dealership for not disclosing the issue but this was expected from a cheaters like them).
I have contacted North Bay Honda immediately who booked me for the Honda software Campaign fix end of Nov. roughly month post purchase when my mileage 2300 Km.
A month after that fix, I checked the oil level which was at least 5-6 mm above max line, then called the dealership who took the car for 2 hr. setting at their lot and confirmed my finding and told me there is nothing now they can do but advised me to keep checking.
Today April 17th, I went to check the oil level 5 hrs. after parking the car at work to find that my oil level is double the max level (at least 0.8" or 2 cm above the orange plastic mark). I rushed to North Bay Honda who told me there is really nothing they can do except an oil change (as Honda is still gathering info) or keep driving the car till the engine ceases then I get a new engine!!!!! That is was complete disappointment
I have to drive a dangerous machine that can stall at any time while on the highway !
They have informed me that that is what exactly happened with one of their clients whose CRV cams have ceased in the cylinders because of the lack of lubrication and the end was an engine change (exact same engine so what is the point)
when the service manager says Honda doesn’t have a real answer, and advises me to trade it or “just drive it till it breaks,” I tend to be in the camp that believes on this issue, Honda doesn’t know what they are doing.
