I have been driving around 2018 Honda CR-V EX-L AWD with a sidewall damage(check pictures below) on one of the tire for a few months now without any issue. I don't recall how I damaged the sidewall but most likely it was the curb while street parking. The tire which was damaged was front passenger side tire at the time, and recently during routine maintenance tire rotation it was moved to rear passenger side by honda service guy citing it is more safer if something worse happens while driving until I change it.

I only have 23k miles on these OEM tires and don't use my car for daily long commutes. Mainly city driving with occasional long trips on highways.
Honda Service guy suggested I should replace at least 2 tires as soon as possible and I wanted recommendation on whether changing 2 tires is a good option or I should bite the bullet and change all 4 & get over with it ?

I also looked at other posts on the forum about the option of just replacing one tire and asking a tire shop to shave it off to 23k miles(match thread depth of other tires). I was a little skeptical about this option. Looking for recommendations on this.

OH! Do not drive this on highway at speed. VERY UNSAFE! I am very surprised the Honda service allowed you to take the car without changing this tire. I would bite the bullet and replace all four tires, They don't likely have all that many miles left anyway.

Totally agree, time to bite the bullet and replace all 4, too much depends on good tires and traction. I've always been of the opinion that good tires are the cheapest form of life insurance.

The OEM tires are crap anyway. Many people here including myself, changed tires before they ever got to 20k mi. Don't be afraid to ask your dlr to price match Tire Rack. They want you to come in for service anyway. Besides, this way if you have oil change done there you can get free tire rotation at the same time. I've probably bought the last five sets of tires this way. Good luck.

If one is bad, it can be replaced to the FWD or get a pair, the choice is yours if its 1, 2, 3, 4,

That tire should be immediately replaced. I would not drive anywhere on it other than directly to a tire dealer. Much safer to ride on one new tire and the 3 oem ones. If it were me I would replace all 4 if you can afford this. The oem tires are not very good and you can pick up a nice set depending on your needs. Don’t buy your tires from a Honda dealer, there are much better choices out there.

All Honda dlrs. can get any tire, any manufacturer from the tire warehouse supplier they use. See post above re. pricing.

You can see the cords of the tire.
They’re in a dangerous condition and should be replaced immediately.

Looks like you ran over a glass bottle. Extremely dangerous to drive your V in this condition! The flat tire inconvenience is only part of the possible outcome. Wheel/suspension/fender/body/undercarriage damage are also possibilities.

From the reviews, that tire is probably one of the very best tires that are made that will fit a CR-V. I am seriously thinking of getting 4 of those if I ever wear out the set I now have on my 2016 CR-V EX.

When you put those tires on, it probably would be a great idea to spring for an alignment from the dealer if they have a Hunter machine. While it is expensive, consider that a Hunter alignment machine cost $30,000 so if a dealer or anyone else who has one charges a hundred or so for an alignment they are not really overcharging because they have to recoup some of the cost of that equipment. It is amazing that it measures the different angles down to 1/100th of a degree. That is very precise. And, any shop that does alignments without that degree of accuracy of measurement is just waiting your money, time, and tires because they are not doing an accurate enough job.

Better Safe than Sorry, Bottom Line. I'll say it like this the Sidewall flexes, the faster you go on a turn, the more flex. and if that tears, and it is on your front of the car, good luck, at least the rear it won't pull you to the side. This is all talk now as the OP is in the process of changing these out A.S.A.P. SOme do not see it that way, and they must continue the talk and express the damage it's causing to the tire, poster, etc..

I have been there and done that these Eutopias do tear on the side without reason, for me, when owned, no longer.
