Hi,This is my first winter with this SUV. I've a basic question regarding winter tire installation. Can I use 225/65/R17 winter tires instead of 235/65/R17 all season tires? Will there be any impact. Please help me finding the answers. I appreciate your time.

Thanks!

You can go to a 225/65R-17 winter tire with no ill-effects. There is a good selection at Discount Tire Direct. You can search by size or vehicle and narrow down the selection by clicking on Tire Category.

I have a set of Hakka 8's that are 10mm narrower on my Ridgeline and it works well.

The speedo is high by +/- 3 MPH at 75.

Go for it.

If a lotto snow and ice, buy Bridgestone Studless ICE tires. Live in NC on Beech Mountain and 1/2" ice today. Have used then for years on various cars/trucks and never failed me in any condition.

On my kid's last generation (2013) I just ordered a set of General Altimax Arctic 12, their latest winter tire. 215/70-16 104T. It's made by Continental and rated well in the last Consumers winter tire listing. They will replace a set of worn Continental ExtremeWinter Contacts. We'll see how they perform.
