2018 Maintenance Schedule

Just purchased my 2018. Owner's manual states that car will advise me about due maintenance. Dealer schedules are oil changes every 5K. Every dealer I had in the past stated 3K. Honda says 7.5K.
I do not dog my cars. Since the car is new, I am not sure when the scheduler will alert me. What if I am on a long road trip, and it comes on? I am not convinced. Would like to see something printed.

Based on the engine operating conditions, the

I also recommend you order this printed manual. Much more information for us who like to know about our cars. It is free, but takes a couple/few weeks to be received.

...Since the car is new, I am not sure when the scheduler will alert me. What if I am on a long road trip, and it comes on?...
The Maintenance Minder will alert you when the Engine Oil Life drops below 15%. It will also update at 10% and 5%. You should have time to finish a long trip before the life would drop to 0%.

^^^ Good Practice! :banana:

That is the only 'weakness' in the Honda MM system: It isn't triggered by time (in this case, a YEAR). (Some cars keep track)

Before you do this time-based maintenance, you need to manually keep a record of pending service due, since resetting the MM will erase the notification for things like rear diff and ATF.

++++++++++

My daughter asked me to just put an oil change reminder sticker on her windshield, as I had always done. :HighFive: Old habits die hard I guess (and, she trusts Dad). :eek:

I was just looking in the log book I keep (yes, I log all gas/oil/filter/tire work -something I got from my dad) in our car and see it is about time to do my yearly oil change on our CR-V. Oil life is only at 40% and we have about 3800 miles on this (I could be wrong on that though) oil. So far so good with having followed the MM on the other changes leading up to the last one. Mobil 1 and Honda filters, engine is running just fine thank you.
