I've been a fan of Edmunds since before computers. They used to put out a paperback yearly........:thumb:
Crossing my fingers that this thread makes it to 14 pages like the Motor Trend compact SUV comparison thread!
Mmmmmm! I wonder how much Honda paid for that???
Another win for the Honda CRV! These ongoing superlatives seemingly overshadow the oil dilution issue for now.

Me too! The first vehicle forum I ever joined was Edmunds. I should go see if I can still login. :)
LOL, they also got the dreaded 2017 Broken Shifter Button, luckily it's like a 5 min fix. We had ours replaced when I noticed it getting loose. Seems resolved as it's not broken again and no reports from the 2018-2019 models having the problem. I like the comment that they just can't seem to let go of it as it does everything so well, and they already have nearly 30k miles on their long term tester.
Another victory for our CRV. So glad I chose this vehicle over any other. The Mazda fanboys must be pissed:banana:

Well, I now own a 2019 CX-5 and I'm not at all "pissed" that Edmunds prefers the CR-V over it. It's no surprise to me that the CR-V checks more boxes for the majority of people buying these CUV's. They've mastered the art of maximizing interior space in a compact footprint, while maintaining excellent fuel mileage. If it weren't for a single plaguing issue some owners are experiencing, it would probably be in our garage. Because of that issue, we expanded our scope, which included the Mazda we now own. I never would have even considered looking at Mazda last year at this time, so I'm pretty grateful for this forum enlightening me.
What's impressive about this one is that Edmunds isn't just saying the CR-V is the best compact SUV; they are saying it's the best SUV, period (non-luxury at least).

Not sure what factor would determine "best" as we all value various features more or less... But I dont think anyone would argue against the CRV being the best bang for the buck. For the price, there is simply nothing that checks as many boxes or beats it in MPG. Trust me, I did my best to NOT purchase the CR-V, but just couldnt convince myself anything else on the market was better for my needs. The only remotely close options were the CX-5 which is too small for my needs.. or the new 2019 RAV4 which was too late(still waiting on the hybrid to show up at dealerships) and now way too expensive.

After three months of ownership and 5300 miles, I dont have a single regret about CR-V and have probably assisted another 3-4 people buying one after taking a ride in mine. I even have coworker who recently purchased the exact twin of my vehicle.. a 2018 EX-L in Sandstorm Metallic. Once you take a test drive of all the available compact crossovers on the market.. and look at real world prices.. its really hard to buy something besides the CR-V. And if the oil issue really scares you.. an extended Hondacare warranty is very cheap insurance for 8yr/120K coverage.

Over one year and 28,000 miles on my '18 Touring with no issues whatsoever and I tend to agree with the article..

The CRV checked all the boxes when we were vehicle shopping a year ago. :)

The Edmunds Editors’ Choice Awards honor our most highly recommended vehicles of the year. Edmunds editors spend more than 17,000 hours testing and rating cars, and each Editors' Choice winner gets high marks for performance, comfort, interior, utility, technology, fun factor and value.

Best Car - Honda Accord
Best Electric Vehicle - Hyundai Kona EV
Best Luxury Car - Mercedes A-Class
Best Luxury SUV - Lincoln Navigator
Best Sports Car - Mazda Miata
Best SUV - Honda CR-V
Best Truck - Ram 1500
The 5th Gen CRV might be the best crossover for those that don't lift the hood to check oil levels or live in cold climates. :)

When my daughter took her first drive in the CRV she hated it but she was just learning to drive. Said the throttle was too jumpy, the steering felt light, and the brakes required too much force to apply. Now she finds daily excuses to borrow it. It compares nicely to my wife's prius which admittedly isn't saying much.

Same thing for Motor Trend. Let's add up all the awards:

Motor Trend SUV of the Year
Edmunds SUV of the Year
AutoBytel Utility Vehicle and Small CUV of the year
KBB Best Buy Award winner

Anything else I'm missing?
This is not a Subaru forum, or do you think 13th is a good position for Honda?

I think the 13th is a little on the high side considering the problems! The fact that JD Powers is all about initial quality and reliability and to rate them as they did is hilarious. I have removed JD Powers from my auto favorites for sure.
