I have a new CR-V Hybrid with about 500 miles on it. Today it does not respond to the key FOB and I had to open the door using the physical key. Once inside I cannot start the vehicle as the start switch does not light up or respond.

The battery is fully charged.

Has anyone had such an experience? And if so, how was this resolved?

Thanks in advance

Which battery was fully charged? The Fob's? The 12-volt battery? The HV battery?
Sounds like the fob battery was dead, in which case you should have been able to start it by holding the fob near the start button (see your manual).
Make sure the "other" fob is not inside the car, or near it, as well. That can cause issues.
If all else fails you have a warranty.
Oh, welcome to the Forum here.

The FOB is new and I tried both the FOB's. I checked the 12V battery under the hood. Dont know how to check the HV battery :). And I tried each of the FOB's separately.

Is there any evidence of life at all? Lights, Beeps?
You really only need the 12-volt system to "start" the car, it's starting to sound like a 12-volt issue.
It IS possible for a new fob to have a bad battery.
But if it were me my next step would be a call to my dealer.

Thank you. I have messaged the dealer. Hopefully they will resolve it in the morning.. Appreciate your responses.

The FOB is new
Always worth replacing the fob battery first as thats a quick fix. Doesnt matter if the one you have is new - even new button batteries can turn out to be a dud.

Replace in both key fobs, try each of them separately and report back on how you get on 👌

This is worrying for a car with just 500 miles it it.

Did you hold the key fob onto the start button and try to start the car? There is a close proximity RF coil inside and it will start the car even if there is no battery in the keyfob. Otherwise the car is completely dead, then really the dealer is the only way forward. Please keep us posted.

Not really - if its been sat on a forecourt for weeks/months and only charged a day or two prior to sale, it could even be that the 12v battery is done.

Replacing that is a straightforward affair :)

Page 365 in your owners manual under power system wont start. If the ready indicator doesn't light up do the following checks:

Indicator conditions:

1. frost icon with thermometer: see page 74
2. steering wheel icon with keyfob: see page 366 for weak/no power to keyfob (hold it to power button)
3. power system indicator comes on: have the vehicle checked by a dealer
4. transmission indicator blinks, and park, with exclamation mark is on: see page 59 on transmission system.

Check the brightness of the interior lights

1. The interior lights are dimmer than usual, flickering, or wont illuminate, have the 12v battery checked by your dealer.
2. The interior lights come on normally, check the fuses see page 378/or take it to a dealer.

Check the shift mode/position

The transmission is not in P (don't know why this suggestion is here, i think this was from the petrol automatic shifters):
Put it in P

Check the Immobiliser system indicator, if it is blinking it wont turn on the power at all see P66

IF YOU CANNOT TURN THE POWER ON AFTER CHECKING ALL THE ITEMS ABOVE HAVE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED BY A DEALER.

IF YOU NEED TO USE THE CAR IN AN EMERGENCY JUMP START THE CAR.

Jump starting, use an isolated, stand-alone BOOSTER battery ONLY do not use a battery connected to another vehicle and jump start the "OLD FASHIONED" way as the voltage spike can damage the DC/DC converter, if it goes above 15 volts damage will be made to the 12v system.

You have to remember the 12v system in these cars is low, amperage there is no high-amperage starting system on the 12v side, that is taken care of from the HV battery that feeds the stator/motor assembly to start the engine.

There is also a MAIN system fuse, 150A in the fusebox next to the battery, i doubt it will be blown but check it anyway, if it is then it will have to go back to the dealer as there would be a serious fault present, but I doubt that would be the problem.
