The EX-L comes with "premium" speakers which are good enough to start with. I am now powering them and a subwoofer via a 5-channel amp and adjusting the sub level with a bass knob. Matted the doors too, which kills a lot of the road noise. Nothing visible shows in the vehicle aside from the bass knob located in one of the dead panels on the driver's side dash.

Very happy with it as a first step upgrade and stealthy setup. I don't play it super loud so the stock speakers should last a while with the extra power, and if they give out it's basically just a speaker swap and retune, since the amp and wiring is already done.

Install was done by a local tuner here in Phoenix that does a lot of audio and dashcam installs on Japanese brands. This was his first 2023 CR-V and it turned out real nice. It's amazing just how much of the interior pops off with one or no bolts, just a pry tool and a few yanks. :)

Happy to answer any questions I can.

Nice.
Clean installation as well.
After this, question is when is the speaker swap?
How much time and money went in all?

Hybrid people will be missing the spare tire, for fixing the bass hub inside.

Figure cost of parts and that's about half, the other half is install. Took about half a day given it was a fair amount of exploration along the way for a new body style, new model year. Disassembly of dash trim to get to headunit + install bass knob + run power wire to engine bay, install fuse under the hood, disassembly of doors for sound deadening install, r&r driver's seat for amp installation, run power and signal wires to trunk for sub, install sub in trunk. Oh and disconnected the road noise mics in the headliner so they won't interfere with the speaker sound signals. Also, the bolt for the sub needs to be cut down about 1.5" and then fits pretty much perfectly. It comes extra long from JBL to ensure maximum compatibility with spare tire mount configurations in various vehicles.

Speaker swap when and if the stock ones die. The CR-V is primarily my wife's vehicle so no need to go to that level unless something gives out. The stock "premium" speakers sound surprisingly decent with the extra power, adjusted crossover and clean signal going to them.

I've been planning on getting the powered Basehub because I feel like the sound is good, just missing that punchier base. I traded my 2019 Civic which had a powered sub under the passenger seat. Sounded great but I hated to play music when I had passengers because their whole seat vibrated.

What size speakers does the 2023 come with? Do you know what size the center channel on dash is? I purchased a 2023 EX AWD, and want to upgrade speakers.

@ Jay5 under which seat did they mount the amp. I'm looking to use the JL RD400/4, running the JL Audio powered 10" Sub right now.
That's EXACTLY what I have. Mine is under the passenger seat.

The inline fuse is mounted on the fuse box cover but the power comes off the battery.
I'm just not seeing it, bud. The circled harness is OEM.....and the arrow shows they ran power straight out of your fuse block.
