Phoenix, Arizona - Purchased a 2023 CR-V EX-L AWD last week at MSRP and I was able to choose the exact spec & color I was looking for from the dealer's list of inbound units. It is slated to arrive this week.

Just checking right now to order a 2023 CRV EX-L AWD. I am being told that the price is MSRP + $5,000. Ventured through Consumer Reports and True Car pricing offers. The information they provided was not reflected in what the dealer is asking. MSRP + 15% appears to be their offer right now. Anyone else have any comments?

In my experience, TrueCar will only recommend the most reputable dealers as part of their referrals.

Thing is... with no inventory in stock and buyers placing deposits for orders from the factory, that kind of blows all the car price referral programs out of the water right now.

The right move right now is to NOT jump immediately on the 2023 models... as even before supply chain madness and the pandemic... brand new generation models were often surcharged by dealers in the first months of sale. Best to wait at least 2 quarters.... say March of 2023 to really look for fair pricing without dealer markups.

Even with supply constraints there are still dealers that will sell at MSRP without “market adjustments”. If you need a car now, it pays to widen your search.

I wouldn’t buy a 2023 at this point. Too early in the manufacturing cycle for me. Just my opinion, but backed up by getting screwed twice in my car buying life by brand new vehicles very early in their lifecycle.

I’d consider it a pretty low risk proposition in the scheme of car buying risk. But then I bought an Alfa first year model on a brand new platform when they were re-introduced to the US market in 2017 - I live dangerously! 🤪

Well my wife's 2012 CRV EXL AWD is at 107,000+ and I went with a local dealer. Paying about 5.1% over MSRP so around $1,900 over sticker. Then of course they have the addons like tint, protection package, DNA?? and we wanted a cargo cover, cargo tray and a rear USB port. So the best price I found locally did not have a car in production well into December and I got as close to that pricing as possible.

I am not happy but understand that with so few cars available both for 2023's as well as 2022's they need to make some money. The world has changed with this Covid impact and the associated problems. We have a production slot set around the first week of November, and hoping it does not take too long to get here from Ohio.

Anyways while I recognize the advantage of waiting with a current car that is not reliable we needed to do something. I appreciate everyone's counsel and will let you know when it arrives. There were some dealers in town here that said MSRP + $3,000 and one at $5,000 so I am ok!

The dealer I bought from waived a 6400 markup they were considering rolling out, perhaps because they had quite a few inbound. I did not need to negotiate it, they waived it up front but made sure to let me know about it, lol.

I did come in talking about msrp, so they knew I was ready to buy at msrp. I won't pay over msrp for a generic vehicle.

Sounds kinda like those places that boost the price, then have a "big sale" that drops it back to what it was in the first place...

Visited the Honda dealer in Leesburg, FL yesterday having a tire replaced on my 18CR-V EX-L.
The salesman I deal with there said they had a 23 ex-l and we looked at it. Sticker had a $10K market adjustment bring the total to $50,150. I told him good luck and walked away.
He agreed

Agree, best time to buy a gen 5 was 20-22 my. IMO Honda is shooting themselves in the foot by leaving out certain options and raising prices. Also, dealership gouging is not building long term relations with customers. When supply chain and chip issues are normalized it will be interesting how the car industry adjusts.

Just picked up a 2023 CRV EX AWD for $35k (Edit - - $35,8xx). Dealer was asking $5k over MSRP, but we eventually agreed to doing $2k over. While I hate to ever pay over sticker, decided on a number in my mind that I was willing to pay and they were willing to meet me at said number. In this current market and since no Honda dealer in my area is selling at MSRP, I'm relatively happy with the outcome.. and very happy so far with the vehicle.

So you’re a Beta tester for Honda and paying for the privilege? I guess if you really needed a car…

Base EX AWD with no options is 33,855 so if the 2k over did not include dealer handling that would put you well into the 36k range other wise congrats on your car! Where you coming from a previous year CRV?

I stand corrected, my apologies. It was 35,8xx.

Thanks! This is my first CRV. I was initially eye balling a new Civic, but after scoping out the CRV I was sold. Love the look, very spacious and comfortable.

I am slightly concerned about picking up a first year redesign, but truth be told I don't hold onto vehicles for very long. History would indicate that I'll be in something else by the time the warranty expires, but who knows.. lol.

What exactly is he Beta testing?
