Hey guys,

I am contemplating on whether to buy a OEM or a third party air filter for my V 03.

The third party ones:

I don't trust reviews all that much. I have been told Fram makes crappy products yet in the reviews from Fram has a better review rating than Wix (which I heard lots of good things about). This is why I prefer to ask here from REAL owners and REAL experiences. So Let me know what you think and what you recommend. The good, the bad, any advice... etc. I prefer to spend for best value out of all the above.

Perhaps I've just had the luck of getting lower quality parts of a manufacturing run, but I didn't think the Wix fit as well in my '09 (different design), and both the Wix and Fram seemed to have a lower quality "feel" compared to the stock Honda engine air filter. I guess that may have no relationship on how well they filter, but I just felt better with the stock Honda part. I didn't think to try the Purolator yet - I like their oil filters so I may give them a try next time.

Now the cabin air filter - I actually like the Fram one better than oem, so go figure ;-)

I got a TYC cabin filter that I just changed. I have yet to see how it performs. But what's so special about the Fram cabin filter that you like so much?

Most are excellent enough. Just don't fall for that K&N engine air filter hype. They don't even come close to filtering as well as even the poorest 'paper' type filter.
Read up on BITOG (bobistheoilguy.com) or other sites, except for the K&N site.

PS: I use the Fram Extra Guard engine air filter and it has decent reviews and test results and is good, pricewise.

Fram cabin filter with activated charcoal is awesome. Engine filter wise i just got w.e cheap. I got the k&n rechargable filter for 10 bucks

The filters are made by only a few manufacturers who label them. Go with non-OEM and buy a few to keep in stock for regular changes.

If it fits... Absolutely yes! I have used RockAuto with good results for all my filter needs.
