If, to you, your wheel bearing sounded OK, all that needed to be replaced was the sensor unit. Yeah, sounds like the service writer needed the busine$$ to keep the mechanics going.
Wheel speed sensors on CRVs & Accords are integrated with the hub in the sense that the sensor is inserted into the hub to read the spine rotation. It is held in by an 8 / 10 mm bolt. Both the bolt & the sensor can come out, albeit in older vehicles you may have to use a little more lubricating spray & gentle twisting to get it out. Depending on the DIY skills of you & your son, along with parts availability & your tool crib, you could have done the sensor replacement in your driveway for under $50.
