Hi everyone,

New owner for a CR-V (1997 European 1st Gen) and need a definitive answer on tyre sizes please.

We bought the car to go off road but the tyres just aren't up to it (2 punctures in 3 days has confirmed that) so I'm looking at replacements.

I've read in places that you have to keep to the OEM size (205/70-15) but it's the 15" I'm asking about.

Can I go to 16"? The higher clearance would help a great deal but I don't want to buy new alloys if they're just going to rub or something else.

Is there a definite yes or no answer to this question? If not, could I please have advise on what you think is the best way to go with regards off road tyres.

Thanks,
Steve

Definite yes. I even had 17" on mine. But, it's not the rims that will prevent punctures and give you more or less clearance. Key is tire selection.
