Has anyone upgrade their sway bar/anti roll bar on their 17+ models? I was thinking about getting the eibach anti roll bar from tirerack.com to help with the swaying on my 18 touring. We are about to go on a 9 hr road trip with the new born and we really want something to help with the body roll.

They don't make one for 5th gen. CRV. I see Accord, Civic and Fit for 2017 and all of those plus the Talon for 2019. This is the only one I've found. Another forum member bought one but I don't know if he ever got it installed. I was waiting to see if it's much of an upgrade over stock EX sway bar. May have to go with other suspension parts to reduce understeer and body roll.

Keep in mind that a higher performance sway bar would stiffen up the ride. Personally I find the CR-V is pretty controlled in this area and almost matches the class leading CX-5 while being more comfortable. Its a trade-off you might live with considering a new born would probably prefer smoothness over extreme cornering capability.

we did a1,500 miles road trip last year and I find the CRV's comfort and body roll very comfortable, I don't go crazy on the twist and turns in the mountains that's for sure. Almost the hole trip was in the mountains. I was very amazed how powerful the 1.5 litter was when climbing.

Ive installed over 5 upgraded sway bars on different vehicles and it has never made a car more stiff, only better on turns. CRV has some bad body roll...but as do other suv's in the the compact segment.

The civic and crv shares the same sway bars. Look up aftermarket sway bars from current gen civic. It should bolt right up.

crv is built on civic chassis but looking at diagrams, they appear to be different shapes but same length. I don't know how that affects fit and/or ride characteristics.

I take very slow corner and no sharp turn. My tundra have really bad sway. I drove the polit and the mdx and their ride is so much more smoother going over bombs and turns. And I was wondering what's more efficient sway bar for body roll or upgrade shocks. Keep in mind I drive like a grandma. And every turn I take there is a body roll to one side then it comes back and forth before a stop.

did some research and asked around (people I know that loves cars) stiffer sway bars will not affect straight away handling but will definitely make the ride much more jumpy when you are in rougher roads. But yes, it will help a lot on managing the sway of a car in corners.... but too stiff in the back and or front will affect the over/under steers. I am just quoting, I am not into off roading and racing, so it might be beneficial for you installing the stiffer sway bar as long as you drive like most of us in just paved roads... and definitely slow down on unpaved ones, or you'll be like in a roller coaster ride :).

I've had the opposite experience. I've only installed sway bars on two cars but each time the cars felt less plush than stock. Don't get me wrong, I installed Flyin Miata sway bars on my 2016 MX-5 a year ago and love it. Definitely controls the Miata's considerable body roll but without a doubt its a stiffer ride on a bumpy road.

You're doing a 9 hour road trip with a baby and want to reduce suspension articulation and stiffen up the ride? I'm going to guess you're not an auto engineer...
He didn't say "reduce articulation and stiffen up the ride". He said reduce body roll. One can accomplish this with a bigger or solid anti-sway bar. Going too big will have adverse effects such as too stiff, too much understeer and loss of traction at certain angles however an anti-sway bar only a few mm thicker will give desired effect. A much more expensive option would be bigger rims and/or lower profile tires to reduce sidewall flex and/or a customized suspension setup that's. I too am looking for the same driving characteristics. Admittedly I'm not an auto engineer but I have done this to a couple of my vehicles in the past ( both Accords) and was very happy with the results.

Suspensions are designed as a coherent system. Spring rates, shock valving, roll bar size and stiffness, wheel and tire combinations, bushings, seats, linkages etc. In my experience, most people get it wrong when they pick one area and decide to make their mark by 'improving' it. A strut tower brace here, a thicker rear anti roll bar there, maybe stiffer springs. Amateurs trying their luck against a professionally engineered setup. Of course the aftermarket exists to cater to this kind of 'enthusiasm' and people tell themselves their tweak was genius but its largely delusional stuff. Suspension is serious business and having made most of these mistakes I'm a firm believer that you either do it right or just leave a system stock. If you want to do something real and not be a tinkerer, focus on your tire selection.

Completely agree that tires are the #1 factor. That said the Ohlins coilovers and sway bar I switched to absolutely transformed my Miata. OEM suspension is usually a compromise that favors comfort over performance. And there are a lot of "tinkerers" out there who really know what they are doing.

I just want to reduce the body roll not racing around the corner or trying to run the fastest lap. My moms odyssey have one of the last body roll and really comfortable while on road trip. It soaks in the bumps and your not being tost around. Same goes with the polit and the mdx, the rdx have less body roll then the crv. I have not driven the rav4 or the cx5. But what I would like is just to reduce the body roll. Taken turn I have to brace myself at 13 mph and going the on the clover ramp at 20 the whole car shift one way. My types s and accord feels way better then this. And yes I just order the rear sway bar from ultra racing with a 2 days shipping. I will keep postested. It was 260 got it for 240 with the shipping. If it does what i want I might add more parts to it. They have a total of 4 parts to achieve the 40% less body roll.

Keep us posted with the sway bar fitment! Very curious.

Do you have a link to the rsb you bought?

I too ordered one. Got it for $229 w/ free shipping. The other parts are for stiffening the chassis, they won't help with body roll. They're more for racing setups/ lowered vehicles.

Here is a link for front. I'll wait to see what I think with just the rear first.

They just refunded my fee for 2 day shipping. I emailed them but havent got a respond to why I was given a refund. I was thinking about getting the rear sway bar and the front mount.
