Chances are there are nothing wrong with the bushings, it's the links if your getting noise from the swaybar.

And yes you need a proper jack and jackstands unless you want to learn what roadkill feels like lol.

Beyond that, look underneath it and see what it takes to remove the straps that hold them. If you change your own oil, swaybar bushings are about as easy.
