I was looking at a garmin GPS with a built in dash cam and I saw the following notice:

"NOTICE: Some jurisdictions regulate or prohibit use of this camera device. It is your responsibility to know and comply with applicable laws and rights to privacy in jurisdictions where you plan to use this device."

So, what do you think, are we driving illegally in some states or countries?

In Texas, like most states in the US, the only issue is placement blocking driver's view. Best to mount low on dash or up in front of mirror. Same as cell phone mounts, those suction cup ones are illegal as they block driver's view. Nothing is allowed to block any part of driver's view forward.
