I have 2000 crv EX with 140K on the odometer. Purchased used...no history available on the car. When coming up a long hill the car will hold at up to 4000 rpm and refuse to upshift. The only way to get the trans to upshift is to let off of the accelerator after cresting the hill. Other than trans issue drives great, new timing belt/water pump. Timing set, new plugs, wires, filters. Have not changed trans fluid yet but have Honda fluid to go in next week....Help!

Your AT is probably working correctly. It's on a hill climb and knows it.

And if it's at highway speed, the CRV's aerodynamics are so bad, she's pulling hard against the air too.

Mine does the same. As long it does not slip it is good and keep driving it. Atf changes will help a lot. Check the color it should not be black, dark brown, or dark red. It should be a light pink. So anyway changing the Atf will reduce the problem.
