I'm a lurker, made new account, blah blah blah.

Going to change transmission oil soon. Automatic transmission, 4WD, 2005 Honda CRV.

I understand there are basically two transmission filters for the 4WD ATF 2005. Other years may have both, too. I know all have at least the one, in the trans cooler line.

Anyone ever change the ATF strainer inside the transmission? I've seen them at my work, but didn't think of changing it until now.

Does the internal strainer need replacement, ever?
Has anyone changing the ATF replaced the internal strainer?

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

You cannot change them, they are changed only when transmission is overhauled. If transmission has been properly maintained there is no need or reason to change them. Proper drain and fills regularly, the inline filter having been changed at least once in its life.
