Hi,
I have a 2011 Honda CRV (SE) with about 72K miles. About 7 months ago, the dealer flushed and changed the ATF for me. However, I just noticed today (by using dip stick) that the ATF level was super low. Just curious, is there a "sensor" or something with "Gen 3" CRV, that it would actually warn you IF the ATF level is dangerously low?? Or would it at least throw out some kind of code (that you can use OBD-II scanner to find out)?

Also, how does the "computer" of the Honda Minder works, in terms of deciding WHEN to pop out for the Code 3 (flush/change ATF fluid)?? Thanks again!

There is NO sensor for ATF quantity. You were wise to check it. Ask the dealer to top it off.

Honda's Maintenance Minder signals the need for engine oil changes based on several factors (cold starts, RPMs, mileage) and will vary with usage. All the other services (ATF, filters, rear differential fluid) are based on mileage, though. Those codes will come up when the service is 'close' to an oil change.

For an ATF drain & fill it's a 30K mile cycle.

If my CRV is FWD, does that mean that I don't have to worry about replacing the rear differential at all? Thanks!
