Hello,

I have a 2011 CRV EX and when the AWD engages there is a "thud" sound upon intial onset of the AWD engaging. Is this normal and has anyone else experienced? To me it sounds like the rear drive shaft engaging but I am not sure......Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

just called my local service tech at the dealership that I bought my car and he said yes you will hear a slight "thump" when the AWD engages....

Would this be true on the earlier CRVs, too? Mine is a '99. There's been discussion recently about how to know when 4WD is engaged, but I don't remember this being mentioned. Recently, conditions around here have warranted possible engagement of 4WD, and I think I may have heard or felt such a "bump" at least once.
